Insights
We share clear, actionable recommendations for compliance and future planning. By identifying wear early, we help you plan repairs before breakdowns occur, saving you time and money.
Trusted
Expertise
Our inspection methods were developed by our Operations Manager, drawing on 35 years of crane experience across container handling, vessel cranes, and production cranes up to 250 tonnes.
Unlike “drive-by” inspections, our certified technicians take a hands-on approach. We don’t just tell you what’s wrong – we service it during the inspection whenever possible.

More than a checklist
During an inspection, our certified technicians also:
-
Check brake pad thickness, adjust brakes, and reset to manufacturer tolerances
-
Inspect and tighten wiring connections for safety and reliability
-
Check hooks, ropes, chains, and safety devices for wear and damage
-
Test contactor resistances and limit switches to meet manufacturer standards
-
Tighten bolts, adjust settings, and correct issues on-site
Time well spent
We design inspections to do more than meet compliance – we design them to reduce downtime and give you peace of mind. We invest the right amount of time in your equipment, because safety and reliability can’t be rushed.
Inspection times you can expect:
-
5 to 15-tonne single girder = ~4 hours
-
16 to 20-tonne overhead crane = 5–6 hours
-
22-tonne (or more) double girder = 6–8 hours
-
5-tonne underslung hoist = 2–3 hours
-
Additional dual hoists = +2–3 hours each
Times vary depending on crane type, location, and site conditions. These are averages to help you plan for proper service.

Preventive maintenance goes beyond inspections
It’s a hands-on service program designed to keep your lifting equipment safe, reliable, and compliant – all while reducing costly downtime.
At Venter Cranes, preventive maintenance isn’t a box to check – it’s a partnership to keep your cranes lifting safely, day after day.
During these visits, our technicians:
Open, inspect, and service brakes
Lubricate moving parts
Perform electrical and mechanical adjustments
Check structural integrity (e.g. welds, bolts, fittings)
Identify worn parts and schedule timely replacements
Why it matters
Fewer surprises
Address small issues before they turn into major breakdowns.
Extended equipment life
Protect your investment and avoid premature replacements.
Code compliance
Stay aligned with CSA and OHS requirements without scrambling for last-minute fixes.
Planned scheduling
We work with you to set maintenance intervals around your operations, not against them.
