I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the tools. Early in my career, I was the technician in the field – fixing cranes in the cold, troubleshooting systems under pressure, and learning firsthand how downtime impacts a business. That experience shaped how I lead Venter Cranes today.
Journey to Venter Cranes
My journey began in South Africa, where I co-owned and operated Sentril Engineering with my uncle. There, we serviced and maintained port cranes, high-production container cranes, and equipment in the paper and dairy industries.
After moving to Canada, I launched LHSM Management, which grew steadily until I purchased Venter Cranes and amalgamated the two businesses into one company. That merger allowed me to bring together years of technical skill, management experience, and customer-focused values under a single trusted brand: Venter Cranes.
Since 1995, I’ve worked across every corner of the crane industry –maintenance, repairs, fabrication, hydraulics, welding, and automation. I advanced from apprentice electrician to senior technician, service supervisor, and now operations manager. Along the way, I earned credentials as a Journeyman Electrician, Journeyman Millwright, CWB Welding Supervisor, Certified OHC Trainer, and a Ph.D in Philosophy, which sharpened my leadership, training, and problem-solving approach.
What drove me then – and still drives me now – is simple. I want to give businesses what I wished I had back then: a reliable partner who responds quickly, communicates clearly, and delivers work that’s safe, compliant, and built to last.
Today, that vision has become our reputation. With decades of hands-on experience, international exposure, and industry recognition, Venter Cranes is trusted by peers, clients, and leaders across multiple sectors.
